We will have the Annual Troop 53 Fishing Rodeo again in Mentone, Alabama.
The setup will be similar to last year. We will arrive mid-morning Saturday and set up camp. We will fish till about 4:30 or 5,. We will clean the fish as a troop for dinner.
There are opportunities for fishing merit badge requirements, as well as a night on the ground and an awesome fish fry. We will also have trophies for the most fish and biggest fish.Scouts can cook if needed for rank advancement or MB requirements this year. Let Mr. Chambliss know ASAP Attendees will need to bring a sack Lunch for Saturday lunch,. The adults in the troop will cook the fish fry and the troop will provide a small trail breakfast before we leave Sunday
We should head out around 9 am Sunday Morning.

Two work day opportunities are:A)1:00PM to 4:00PM on Saturday, May 2nd – putting together the trash cans and bird houses at my house at 238 Richmar Drive. Please bring safety glasses and work gloves if possible. Snacks will be provided.B) 1:00PM to 4:00PM on Sunday, May 3rd – we will be placing the trash cans and bird houses at Kirkwood by The River which is at 3605 Ratliff Road. Please bring work gloves if possible. Snacks will be provided here also. **If you have a truck and are willing to help transport the cans, please let me know.STAR SCOUTS: Both workdays will count towards 3 required conservation hours required to get Life scout.

I am excited to finally announce my Eagle Scout Project to all of you. In just a few weeks, I will be installing bike racks and building and installing helmet racks at the Mountain Brook Junior High School.
As this project is rather large, I will have a total of two workdays during which Scouts can come help out. The first will be the morning of Tuesday, July 7, and the second will be Saturday, July 11. Tuesday morning’s work will be shorter, and should only last ~2 hours at most. Saturday will be longer, but we should spend no more than ~6 hours on the worksite. For both workdays, lunch (Chick-Fil-A), snacks, and refreshments will be provided for all volunteers (if a prospective volunteer has any dietary restrictions, please let me know ASAP). These workdays present an incredible opportunity to not just serve your community but also earn upwards of eight service hours for advancement.
If you would like to volunteer, please RSVP immediately so I can secure the correct amount of food. I know we are in the middle of a very busy time of year for many, but even if you can spare just a few hours to come help out I would greatly appreciate it.
